DESCRIPTION:

My ancestors lived in northern South Carolina(Chesterfield county) around 1830. They wanted to go west but the Appalachian Mountains were a hugh hinderance. So they floated down the Pee Dee River to the Atlantic Ocean and around Florida to Mobile Bay and polled up the Tombigbee to its headwaters. Then over land for about 20 miles to the Tennessee River. From there another 50 miles down river, to Decatur County Tennessee. There they settled for the next 100 years.
